Your program also open images (.jpg, .gif (even animated .gif), ...), rich-text (.rtf), plain text (.txt), .htm, .chm; even video (.mpg ) ! etc.

If I understood rigth, it can open any file that IE can open. Because you are calling IE for open files.

would have to try to open documents from OpenOffice. I do not know if IE supports them, if to do so should do so without any problems I will try and comment on them.
