En mi criterio no es recomendable la version 4 aun, esta en una etapa de desarrollo muy temprana y no resuelve cuestiones todavia elementales. La version 3 esta practicamente resuelta, es versatil, y si se comlica existen muchos modos de avanzar con unas pocas consultas. En lo particular, trabajo con bases de datos del viejo fox y clipper, y me ha resultado muy pragmatica esta version.

Creo que incurre en un error en su interpretacion a mis palabras, la cuestion a dilucidar es que se debe elegir cuando uno comienza a desarrollar software, HMG3 o HMG4, y la respuesta, en mi criterio es definitavamente HMG3, por la sencilla razon que ofrece mas alternativas que su version posterior y permite asi terminar una idea plasmada en un programa, en particular para los que venimos de FOX/CLIPPER y no necesariamente de DOS. En cambio, HMG4, por estar aun en desarrollo, tiene las limitaciones propias de su permanente avance, y hasta tanto no resuelva algunas alternativas planteadas durante el proyecto creo no es recomendable para comenzar a programar.
Pero coincido con Ud. en que el futuro sera invariablemente HMG4.

Tienes razón
Sólo quería decir que hay alternativas (HMG3, HMG4, Marinas, etc.), pero depende del tiempo disponible y la meta. Personalmente, siempre recomendamos el uso de HMG3, pero prestando atención a la evolución de HMG4 (ver compatibilidad).

Just an update...

I am using now HMG 3 and I am really happy with it! Works very well and didn't take much to learn because of the many very useful examples and support from more experienced users...

HMG 4 I am not using because of some problems I had in my tests... one of the problems is the QT dependency and "DLL hell" effect that is something I really want to avoid (at least for now...)
