search is not working in help file

Post by Anand »

I installed hmg.3.4.3 and got the hep file as c:\hmg.3.4.3\DOC\hmgdoc.htm

This opens in a browser but the search is not working. Is there a CHM version with proper search support ?

I use extensive help file searches for my project development.

Anand

Anand,

You are right, i experience the same problem. As a workaround i use the online version:

hmgdoc/data/

In the online version, the search function does work.

Hi trmpluym, the online version also does not do search in help body. For example, search for "sql" gives "HMGSQL" help page but search for "RDBMS" does not gives any page though it is in the text body of "HMGSQL" page.

Hi esgici, the link of the given link is "page not found".

Hi Anand, for me there isn't such problem :? (I am using Google Chrome)

This is a topic open by one of our master contributors Mr. Kevin Carmody and is about their amazing work : HMG Reference as a CHM file.

HMG Reference as a CHM file
Postby kcarmody » 23 Oct 2014 12:41

I started using HMG a few weeks ago (after several years using Minigui Extended) and was surprised to see that the HMG Reference in the DOC directory is a group of linked HTML files. There is a master file, index.html, that makes this set of files look and behave something like a CHM file. But the big problem with this arrangement is that a CHM file is easily searchable, but a set of HMTL files is not.

This HTML file set is very close to what would be needed to create a real CHM file, so I took a few hours to do this. I've put the result on my site at http://kevincarmody.com/hmg/DOC/

You will find there HMG.chm and a zip file containing the source files I used to create the CHM. In the zip file, the HTML files in the hfcl\Doc and Source\HMGSQL folders have been copied to subfolders under the DOC folder, since the CHM compiler cannot compile HTML files in outside folders.

To compile the CHM, I used a batch file ModifyChm.bat that I originally wrote for Minigui Extended. This batch file is in http://kevincarmody.com/hmg/

Anand,

I think the growing GitBook, once completed may solve your problem.

https://rathinagiri.gitbooks.io/hmg-hel ... index.html

Try searching some words. :)
East or West HMG is the Best.
South or North HMG is worth.
...the possibilities are endless.

Thanks for the link Sir.

I have bookmarked it. Searching "activate" does gives lots of help pages, but "sql" gives none, will wait for it to complete.

Hi Anand,

In this hmg.3.4.3 version you can rehabilitate sear engine if you want by renaming the subfolder C:\hmg.3.4.3\DOC\assets\__js to C:\hmg.3.4.3\DOC\assets\js.

For me works perfectly I do not know without internet or even you antivirus intercept any javascript function.

I was working on this issue, but I do not know now how things will be ...
