Fingerprint Scanner?

Post by Roberto Lopez »

Hi All,

I need to know who is creating each invoice in an HMG POS app.

There is various employees, sharing two POS touch PCs and the sales must be as fast as possible.

So, my first idea was to use a fingerprint scanner.

The problem is how to do it... I never worked with such devices.

My hope is that the device emulate a keyboard generating a numeric code specific for each person... but is only a hope... I have not idea :)

Has someone worked with these devices to give me some advice?

TIA.
Regards/Saludos,

Roberto

Hi Roberto:

I don't test it (and of course not buying a unit), but some time ago i investigate the topic, and the device returns a complex secuence of numbers; capture process reads microlines, and then generates a code for each microline.- I can't tell you how many microlines are scanned.- But what is sure is not a unique number as a barcode scanner.-
I'll investigate again this topic and reply these way what i found.-
Hopping you are well.
With regards.

A magnetic card would suffice...

Thanks to all for for the answers.

Maybe the simplest way, could be RFID (dragancesu idea).

It is cheap and the reader emulates a keyboard.

I've seen packs of 100 key fob 'numbered''. I guess that each one generates a pre-recorded (unique) ID, without need to record myself, but I'm not sure about that.

Thanks again.

Roberto

Hi Roberto:

Take a look a this: https://www.siasa.com/producto.php?prod=0900006
As it comes with it's sdk software, you must see how to combine it with HMG.
With Regards
Eduardo

Hola Roberto

Fijate en este link: https://www.siasa.com/producto.php?prod=0900006
Como viene con su propio soft SDK, tendrías que ver la forma de integrarlo con HMG.
Cordialmente
Eduardo
