Hi Pablo,
with HMG and information from this forum I got back my familiar "append from sdf" (SET( _SET_EOL, CHR(10)+chr(13) ) :D
I could import data from an excel-sheet by saving it as *.prn. As I couldn't get xbase++ sdf working, I had to do this manually by copying *.xls into an open office sheet, deleting the exisiting lines manually (thanks god, only some hundred lines) and saving it as a dbf in open office.
With HMG my program does all that for me.
All those windows and menus are new to me, but I will learn and I'll be back with questions.

You can open xls file directly from HMG application, read data row by row
