Newbie from just north of London

Post by reds »

Hi just joined this forum

Over 20 years ago I wrote a small application in Clipper as a favour for a local business,
many mods later they are still running it.

However after much prompting I said I would look at bringing into the real world ,
hence why I'm here.

Apart from the above app,I do no programming these days ,so be gentle with me :)

Background was Cobol and Fortran in the 80s, plus CP/M, and xBase flavours when they
started rolling out.

Thanks for welcome

Which is the latest stable version of HMG,I downloaded ver 3.0.0 but have been told that's very old
I've looked at the latest version they have (test) against them

So I downloaded HMG 3.1.1 but the IDE doesn't have facility to open a single program file
as the version 3.0.0 did

Hi Peter, welcome to the forum !

If you intend to migrate your Clipper app to Harbour in console mode (not GUI, graphic); I suggest to use HMG 3.0.35 which IDE has an option to build in console mode at Project Browser/Configuration in "Console mode" (switch it).

From HMG 3.1.0 verson upto now (3.1.5) is being in new format mode, it is in UNICODE, before this was ANSI. So I you intend to work with GUI (new world) I suggest the last version.

Good lucky and feel free to post all your questions.
